‘Pomona’ Enjoys Attendance Bump Over WeekendThe Recreation Vehicle Industry Association’s (RVIA) California RV Show, which opened Friday (Oct 6) and runs through next Sunday (Oct. 15), had an estimated increase of 8% to 10% in attendance over the weekend after parking problems on Friday were overcome.

”We were overwhelmed with guests on Friday and we had a problem handling parking for the crowd,” said RVIA’s Western Show Director Tom Gaither. ”Over the weekend, after Friday, the dealers were happy with sales. When it’s all over, we still expect a 10% increase in traffic.”

Some 1,400 RVs are being shown over a record 1.2 million square feet of display space at the Los Angeles Fair & Exposition Fairplex in Pomona. The California Show has more than doubled in size in the last six years, Gaither noted.

With regard to entertainment, the show this year has an increased Hispanic emphasis with the staff of Estrella TV — local Ch. 64 — taking over the stage on Sunday as the show closes. Popular TV host and actor Mario Lopez also will sign autographs during the final weekend.
